Industry First African Hop Oils & Hydrosols
We are an agro-processing company situated in George, South Africa. We manufacture specialised botanical
preparations from hops that are expertly grown in the beautiful Garden Route District of the Southern Cape.
Our company has stood the test of time delivering innovative solutions in the hop
industry for the last eight seasons. We have built every part of our community
from the ground up and look forward to seeing it through!
Wanda started her professional career as a physiotherapist and later ventured towards plant based medicine in developing a hops based extract against Multi-Drug Resistant Tuberculosis. To this end, she is responsible for quality product development, agroprocessing standards and visionary leadership at Preserve Botanica.
Jaco leads the Engineering Team and Preserve Botanica Board of Directors. He has more than 30 years experience in research and specialised technologies across many field of interest. He has exceptional leadership skills in solving big problems and applies all his expert knowledge and experience to move Preserve Botanica forward.
Controlled propagation and cultivation of hops are supported with collection of plant parts according the UN Good
Collection Practices for Medicinal Plants. All batches are traceable and processes comply with GMP protocol
although we are not registered yet. We have established Standards of Operation to secure repeatability each
season, and we verify the constituents of our products with Gas Chromatographic Analysis.

Industrial scale Steam Distillation is a separation process
which purifies and isolate temperature-sensitive materials
such as natural aromatic compounds. Wet steam is
passed through the plant material after which these
vapors undergo condensation and collection in
receivers. Our innovation relates to the energy efficient
manufacturing of hop essential oils from previously
discarded plant material into circular products for brewing
and beyond.
Every season, 1.5 times the hop cones harvested are
available to be processed into circular and upcycled
products of value. We stepped up to the challenge to
improve farming efficiencies in the hop industry and to
contribute to a healthy planet.

Founded in 2018 within AB InBev, 100+ Accelerator was born
to engage startups that could solve key sustainability
challenges for large corporate partners. The program was
built to help those startups validate their solution within
ABInBev’s operations and, if successful, scale the solution
globally.
We collect, preserve and process different parts from hops in order to complement and retain all natural occurring compounds. We elect to carefully retain and extract all possible molecules without interference with the balanced relationship of the constituents of the whole plant. This process entails preservation of the green state of the plant material as well as critical evaluation of any processes post-harvest that might impact the quality of our end products.
We endeavor to protect the inherent affinities and finer balances mostly destroyed by modern processing methods by controlling the environmental conditions during preservation and processing. Every step of manufacturing is custom designed according to the unique plant characteristics and end use requirements.
